TT 18 TMB Hot Rod

TT 18 TMB

TT 18 TMB

Not everyone desires a tremolo effect and not everyone is satisfied with the rather simple one knob tone control of the classic Marshall 18W amplifier. Many amps were modified over time what led to many different so-called TMB versions of the 18W circuit. The tremolo channel has been omitted and was replaced by a classic overdrive channel with a tonestack with separate controls for treble, middle and bass.

The TT 18W TMB continues this concept, but is a bit more “hot rodded” than most regular available 18W TMB versions. Only small changes were made in the TMB channel, mostly at the cathode wiring of V3A, to offer more gain, often desired with single coil guitars. The details can be found in the circuit diagram, which also offers the needed details if you do not desire a really “hot” version of the TMB amp.

The rest is standard – whatever for? The amp just sounds fantastic!

Warning!

Care is necessary during construction! The voltages used in this amp are potentially fatal. This amp is NOT a beginner's project!

A successful build requires that you can read (and understand!) a schematic diagram, you know how to use various measuring devices, and you have some experience working with voltages over 60V.
